In 2026 Hanover is a successful countermodel against the regressive federal politics.
Instead of ecological regression, social diversion and political culture clash we rely on dialogue, pragmatic solutions, social security and real progress.
At the local election on 13 September 2026 the green party will aim to stay the strongest power in the city council. With Belit Onay as Lord Mayor we will get into action for a livable, social, modern and diverse city of Hanover.

We plan traffic-calmed livingspace with lots of vegetation, good foot- and cyclepaths.

We will build new apartments and use all legal possibillities against high rents, misuse and speculation with living space!

We invest in good education and trust worthy reliable care. A new municipal education management brings education, youth welfare and offers for families together from creche up to leaving school.

We meet social challenges with help instead of exclusion. We will introduce a new comprehensive drug prevention concept, from early education to individual assistance. This creates safety for those affected without displacement.

Hanover has become a pioneer in the digitalisation and modernisation of administrative processes. We are determined to continue on this path.

We continue to create optimal conditions for start-ups and young sustainable companies.
In this spirit we will update the guidelines for commercial space development.

We continue to fight against right-wing extremism and misantrophy. By demanding a strong action plan against the far right and better opportunities for the participation of immigrants.

Green Achievements
Climate Protection
Hanover will leave coal energy in 2027 and is leading in climate-friendly and affordable heat networks.
The rate of cyclists in traffic has also increased.
Education
We invested more then ever before: 250 million Euros for Kindergardens and schools in the biennial budget in 2025/26.
Social City
Hanover overcomes homelessness in the city by introducing concept Obdach 2030 (Concept shelter) with over 60 individual measures until 2030.
Digital administration
According to Smart City Index 2025 Hanover moved into
7th place from 83 major German cities and has developed from straggler to Pioneer in Digitalisation.
Attitude
Hanover has consequently shown for years a good attitude against right-wing extremism and supports integration, tolerance and a diverse urban society.
